F is For Friday | November 22th, 2019

Happy Friday, ya’ll! I’m in a little bit of a reading slump! But I’m working through it. I think it’s because I have been getting a bit burnt out. Too many things going on and next week is Thanksgiving, so I want to just CHILL!

FEATURE YOUR LATEST BOOK OBSESSION (IT DOESN’T HAVE TO BE YOUR CURRENT READ)

I did a Sunday Spotlight about this book and I can’t stop recommending it to anyone who asks me for a book recommendation, which is basically anyone who knows that I operate a blog. Little Voices is in one word: iconic.

I went a little YA crazy in the library this week. After a week of not borrowing anything. There are a few POC YA in this stack that I am here for! It didn’t exist when I was a kid, so it’s pretty awesome that I can read about people who look like me!

FAVORITE QUOTE OF THE WEEK/DAY

Minds win wars, not muscles.

Diane – The Mother in Law by Sally Hepworth

FIVE THINGS YOU’RE HAPPY OR GRATEFUL FOR THIS WEEK

  1. For the library. Seriously, I would be so broke if I had to buy all the books in order for me to read as much as I do!
  2. For my relationship with the sweetest guy ever. Basically if I say I need a reading day, he leaves me be, which is all an introvert really asks for.
  3. I finally have stop buying a bunch of stuff for my happy planner. It’s seriously addictive.
  4. I’ve finally started to accept my flaws, physical and otherwise.
  5. I’m getting a posting schedule together and trying to stick to it!

What are y’all grateful for? I am grateful for all of you! Thank you for reading and have a great weekend!

F is For Friday | November 15th, 2019

Happy Friday, y’all! This week has been super fun! I only read two books this week. Which if you have been reading this blog then you know that last month I cleared 28 books.

This series is so good and it’s also on Cinemax! I watched and read them and I loved every minute of it.

I was supposed to read Educated for a book club and a buddy read and didn’t do either, so I’m going to try to read it this weekend.

A book club in my area did a meeting about On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous and I didn’t get it in time. So basically this weekend is about catching up!

FAVORITE QUOTE OF THE WEEK/DAY

I must create a system, or be enslaved by another man’s. I will not reason and compare: my business is to create.

William Blake (1757-1827)

This quote reminds me to look at my own life and not compare myself with other people. If I do compare, then I won’t be happy and won’t be able to create great content that brings me joy.

FIVE THINGS YOU’RE HAPPY OR GRATEFUL FOR THIS WEEK

  1. I’m grateful for my mini heater! It’s getting cold here (27 degrees F) and it’s nice to have something near my bed for direct heat!
  2. There have been quite a few sales at Joann’s, which is letting me get crafty for cheap!
  3. I’m getting better about hydrating!
  4. I got sent a book this week (I’ll feature it on Mailbox Monday!)
  5. I FINALLY finished Followers. My review will be up next week, if I’m allowed.

Have an awesome weekend

What’s up, beautiful people! I’m exhausted. What else is new! Going to an adult prom this weekend so that should be super fun! Am I going to pass out as soon as I get home? Absolutely. I hope you all have a great weekend!

So I read Warcross a while ago for the PopSugar Reading Challenge and I completely forgot that there is a sequel, so we are smashing that today. I’m already bought in to this futuristic world and I love the mixture of romance and intrigue. It’s awesome so far.

Indicate which book/s you are looking forward to reading this weekend.

I just got Evvie Drake Starts Over, I’m pretty sure it’s a cute contemporary romance in the vein of when Stella Got Her Grove back with baseball. I’m down for it especially because of a seriously heavy book I read yesterday. I also picked up a copy of His Hideous Heart, right in time for me to be sufficiently freaked out. Heather over @rose_fueled_reads told me that The Favorite Sister was pretty good so that’s just chilling on my book cart as well.

Favorite quote of the week/day

In war, truth is the first casualty, but not this time.”
– The Program: Inside the Mind of Keith Raniere and the Rise and Fall of NXIVM by Toni Natalie

Five things you’re happy or grateful for this week

  1. That I can continue being a complete goofball and the women at my local library still like me.
  2. It was my mum’s birthday this week and she’s literally amazing
  3. I’ve become quite addicted to the idea of planning. (Whether or not that means this blog will be more organized is anyone’s guess)
  4. I got my first correspondence from a major publisher this week!
  5. Cleaning out my email inbox. (Seriously Unroll.me is amazing)

Thank you to my new followers! It gives me so much joy to have people genuinely enjoy reading about me reading. I hope that it is as fun for you as it is for me.

Happy Friday, ya’ll!

This week flew by! I got through a LOT of books and I have been overwhelmed with catching up on reviews. Have you ever written a review and then started to review a completely different book in the same review? Is my brain completely fried? Absolutely. But it’s Friday.

So I decided to start a book at 9pm on a weeknight…This was a bad choice because the book was unputdownable. I went to bed at 12:30am and had to wake up for work 4 hours later. I was so tried. I’m still tired.

Was it worth it? YES.

Little Voices by Vanessa Lillie is her first novel and somehow she just hit it out of the park on her first. I couldn’t believe that this was her debut. Honestly. It’s about a woman who goes into labor early and hears right before she goes under anesthesia that her friend has been murdered. So the book explores her new motherhood and her investigation into her friend’s death. All while she is hearing voices.

I can’t wait for her to write more. She’s now an auto-buy author for me.

Indicate which book/s you are looking forward to reading this weekend.

I’m looking forward to getting into The Bookish Life of Nina Hill and The Whisper Man. I doubt I will get through them because the Halloween parade is this weekend and I can’t wait to go!

Favorite quote of the week/day

“A woman’s past need not predict her future. She can dance to new music if she chooses. Her own music. To hear the tune, she must only stop talking. To herself, I mean. We’re always trying to persuade ourselves of things.” – May Weathers – Before We Were Yours

Five things you’re happy or grateful for this week.

  1. I left the library empty-handed! I’ve NEVER done that.
  2. I found my Bluetooth keyboard, which means no more lugging my laptop around!
  3. I’ve been sticking to my diet and I lost five pounds.
  4. I convinced my boyfriend to walk 6 miles with me to get dinner.
  5. The Halloween parade is tomorrow and I can’t wait!

What are some things you are grateful for this week? I think this is my favorite part of this book meme because it makes me reflect!

This is the first time I’m participating in a blog meme! I’m so excited. Amanda from https://aelilyreads.com/ inspired me to find some memes to participate in. I found F is for Friday.

It would have to be the Rosie Project Trilogy. I started reading about people on the autism spectrum back in early September starting with The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang. The Rosie Project was featured on Bill Gates’ blog under book recommendations so of course, I knew I had to read it. But then I found that there were more books.

I – Indicate which book/s you are looking forward to reading this weekend.

I have a couple of books that I have in the immediate TBR pile for the 24B4 Monday readathon! I’m reading the Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time by Mark Haddon. I’m going to be reading Mrs. Everything and Circe.

F – Favorite quote of the week/day

“Of course our parents get an extra dose of importance in our minds. When we’re little, they’re everything – the gods and goddesses that rule our worlds. It takes a lot fo growing up and a lot of disappointment to accept that they’re just normal bumbling mistaken humans, like everyone else.” pg. 50 – Things You Save In a Fire by Katherine Center.

F – Five things you’re happy or grateful for this week

  1. I have been using my Phomemo printer to decorate my happy planner and it makes me happy. LOL
  2. The holds that I had at the library came in and I got to read Things You Save In a Fire today!
  3. I knew about a readathon before it was already underway.
  4. I got free boxes to box up my books!
  5. Onion Rings from Farm Burger

Well hopefully I did this right, I love this meme! Thanks to Nomadic Worlds for making it!
